There are any website hosting packages available. Shared, reseller, VPS and dedicated.
- Shared web hosting is where most webmasters start. Many domains share the same server on shared hosting. That is fine for most purposes. Unless you have great resource need, shared hosting should do fine.
- Reseller web hosting allows you to host many domain, usually unlimited, and offer full CPanel access to each. This is a great option if you want to charge for hosting.
- Virtual private servers (VPS) are usually the next step. These server are sectioned off into something like 8-12 distinct partitions where each user uses their own space and resources. Virtual private servers can come managed, which costs more, od unmanaged. If your VPS is unmanaged, you are responsible for server management.
- Dedicated servers are entire servers used by only one hosting customer. If your traffic and resources are at the point where you need a dedicated server, good for you. You are, most likely, getting good traffic. Other reasons for a dedicated server might be for video. Dedicated servers can also come managed or unmanaged. A good managed dedicated server mwill probably run you upwards of $175 per month. They are considerably cheaper when unmanaged. Of course that leaves the job of server administrator to you. And there is a good chance you have better things to do than manage your own server.
So there is a server package to fit all needs. If you are just starting out, stick with shared. Next progress to reseller, then VPS. Then dedicated. Web Hosting
