A yantra is essential in every field of your life, to attain success in your profession, to acquire wealth, to win in court cases, to ward off diseases and to progress in meditation. By having a yantra and keeping it in a sacred place in your house, gazing it everyday can fulfill your desires and help in attaining your goals. What is a Yantra? In actual practice a Yantra is a symbolic representation of aspects of divinity, usually the Mother Goddess. It is an interlocking matrix of geometric figures, typically circles, triangles and floral patterns that form fractal patterns of great elegance and beauty. Three-dimensional Yantras are now becoming increasingly common. The Yantra is primarily a meditation tool both for serious spiritual seekers as well as sculptors in the classical tradition. Yantras are also used for more mundane purposes, to enhance the quality of life, to attract prosperity and abundance, even love, to heal and relieve health problems, to protect oneself from negative forces and so on. The Yantra is mistakenly thought to be a symbol purely of the manifold aspects of the Mother Goddess. This is an understandable error as most Yantras are indeed connected to the Goddess the most famous one being the Sri Yantra, an abstract representation of the Mother (and Father too!) as Cosmos. This Sri Yantra is commonly misunderstood to represent Lakshmi, goddess of fortune, but it is more true to say it includes and transcends every notion of divinity ever conceived by the Indian spiritual imagination. However there are Yantras for Ganesha and Kubera too, male deities, though they share a common Yaksha origin with Lakshmi. The Yaksha were the original deities of India and the Yantra system seems to have been incorporated into the Vedic worldview at a later stage. Thus, every Yantra is a symbolic representation of both the deity as well as the universe, as the mother goddess not only permeates the substance of the universe; she is, literally, the Universe itself. Abstract geometric representations of the universe, which do not represent a diety, are called mandalas, however. Thus every Yantra is a mandala, though not all mandalas are Yantras. Yantras are usually used for counteracting the harmful effects of planets. Besides countering negative effects, Yantras also increase the planets' beneficial aspects in lives. Yantras and mantras are connected together since each Yantra has a corresponding mantra. The yantras are also representative of different deities. According to Ayurveda, there is also a definite relationship between Vedic talisman and the elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. By proper prayers and perfect recitation of specific mantras, the material elements can be invoked to move in the way desired by the worshiper. This is not magic but a highly evolved and developed science for exercising some control in this regard.The Vedic Yantras are classed according to the different puja conducted for them. Each has a separate and distinct purpose to gain a particular objective for the aspirant. Each Yantra has a specific place close to the body in another location. There are seven chakras in the body through which Kundalini is awakened. There are seven Yantras for each chakra and the Yantras are worn or used accordingly. Since, the Yantras affect a particular part of the body, they are called Sharir Yantras. • Dharan Yantra- is worn on the body for specific reasons. • Asana Yantra- is kept under the "Asana" (mat) during Sadhana (meditation). One sits in the center, four persons in four directions and others recite other mantras. • Pooja Yantra is installed, whether in temples or homes of individuals, while puja is taking place. They may be for different religious deity worship, or for the different planets in our solar system. • Chhatar Yantra- is not placed upon the body, but kept in the pocket, or under a turban (or hat). • Darshan Yantra- also purifies and blesses the place it is installed in. The examples of such places are temple of Jagannath Puri. • Lord Shiva and Maa Bhagwati Yantra. Yantra are of different types for different purpose e.g. to bring wealth and prosperity to you, bring the person under control, and can also help you to attain success in your business and all spheres of your life.
