The highest court in this land has declared, once and for all, that it is the American citizen's right to bear arms, especially in defense of life, liberty, and property. However, for the protection of all, there are laws that regulate firearms in every state, particularly when it comes to being able to carry a concealed gun or similar weapon. So, if you are wanting to obtain your Virginia concealed carry permit, it is vital to learn about those regulations before obtaining any type of firearm. Most states require that you go through a generalized safety course before you can receive the permit, in which you will be educated about regional rules. Not sure where to look for your course? Check online. My spouse was able to register for his at his university, and many community centers and gun stores provide information on or simply host the class right there. If you have no luck with these locations, then contact a local or national gun rights organization. In my opinion, all the ladies out there should be the most educated group when it comes to self-defense options, especially those with young children. Potential predators see women toting kids along as more vulnerable, knowing that a motherly instinct in most women would cause them to follow orders in order to protect their little ones. A woman with a concealed (but easily reachable) firearm--a woman with the knowledge and strength to use it to her advantage--is not such an easy target. Guns may seem intimidating at the outset, but taking the appropriate class can grant you confident to stand up for yourself in any threatening situation.
