Explore Dublin in a Jurys Hotel

Travel & Tourism,Business

Dublin is the perfect city for a city break, whether you’re coming from the UK or further afield, the Fair City has plenty going for it. Dublin is famed for its craic and its banter, so what should you do on a weekend trip?

Staying in a Jurys Hotel is one of the best ways to get around the city. Dublin has a number of these famous Irish hotels and if you have a penchant for luxury and still want to be able to get out and about, then a Jurys Inn is perfect.

One of the best Jurys Hotels for those that just fancy a good night out and a central city position on a trip to Dublin is Jurys Hotel beside Christ Church Cathedral. The beautiful hotel is situate only minutes from Dublin’s famous Temple Bar, as well as beside the beautiful Christ Church and also St Patrick’s Cathedral, the home of Jonathan Swift – the writer of Gulliver’s Travels.

Temple Bar

Dublin’s Temple Bar is a great place for a knee up and is full of numerous traditional Irish pubs, restaurants and shops. The cobbled streets and the atmosphere of fun and games that pervade the area at the weekend will be perfect for anyone visiting Dublin for some pints of Guinness and the craic.

Visit John St Gogarty’s for a night out and enjoys the traditional Irish setting, or if you want to go for a bite to eat – Elephant and Castle is a good spot for something casual. The Mezz is a great spot to see some live Irish bands and it’s all only a short walk from the centre of the city.

Trinity College is a must see if you’re located in Dublin. The University is home to one of Ireland’s greatest treasures – The Book of Kells among other wonderful pieces of Irish history. The square itself is beautiful and the college is just a great place to be admired.

Parnell Square

Jury’s Parnell Square gives a different impression of the city. Situated on the north side of the Liffey; the river that flows through Dublin’s centre, it offers a different perspective on life in the city. A quick bus ride will take you to the Phoenix Park – the biggest park in Europe, whereas the hotel is only a short walk from the birth place of arguably Ireland’s most famous writer of the 20th century James Joyce. This is definitely worth seeing.

At the other side of Parnell Square the Hugh Lane Gallery holds some of the best art the country has to offer. Seeing artists such as Dublin’s own Francis Bacon, among others in this gallery is not uncommon, as are shows and other works of art.

Abbey Theatre

Parnell Square is also only a short distance from the Abbey Theatre, home of many a famous Irish play, including Juno and the Paycock and The Playboy of the Western World. The theatre has huge cultural significance in Irish and Western history and it is worth seeing a play there.

Jurys Inn at the custom house is not far from the Abbey either, though it is located close to Ireland’s financial district and faces across the Liffey. The customs house is one of the country’s most impressive buildings and staying here gives a great perspective of the city at night, as you can see right up the river.

Customs House

Staying in the Customs House Jurys Hotel gives you a great chance to explore both south and north sides of the city as it is plonked right in the centre. The shopping area of Grafton Street lays only a few minutes’ walk away, so does the consumer bastion of Brown Thomas’s.

When on Grafton Street, take a break and explore the Stephen’s Green area, this beautiful park is still preserved to its original beauty. Sit here and read a book by a great Irish writer, or just take in the sunshine if there is some about to be taken in and enjoy Dublin, its people and its culture.
