Child care is a critical part to many parents’ lives. They depend on it on a daily basis. In order to be present at their own jobs, just have to rely on child care centers until their child is old enough for kindergarten. The costs associated with child care centers are in the hundreds of dollars per child per month. Therefore, the financial burden to parents is substantial. In return for the large fees charged by child care centers, they must follow strict rules and regulations. The size of a modern child care center could easily be similar to a small school with close to one hundred kids. When dealing with many kids, you are going to be faced with a wide variety of kids with different health conditions. These conditions will include things like high energy, attention deficient, diabetes, and even respiratory illnesses. A care center therefore, must be ready to serve kids with all conditions that are treatable out of a clinical setting. In dealing with respiratory illnesses, many child care centers throughout the United States have started to purchase a pulse oximeter. A pulse oximeter, also known as a pulse ox, is a medical device used to measure the blood oxygen saturation and pulse rate of an individual. In the past, an oximeter was used mainly in a clinical setting, but over the past decade they have become more widely used at home and on the go. They now are compact and accurate in their readings, and are found in pediatric forms. A pediatric pulse oximeter is designed specifically for children’s fingers with software that takes into account the added movement that is expected from a child when a reading is performed. An pediatric oximeter is becoming more and more popular nowadays since respiratory conditions among children has been on the rise. Care centers throughout the United States have put in orders in the thousands for a pulse oximeter. These centers have already given positive feedback to oximeter manufacturers. Parents are also extremely happy with the new medical device in the child care centers. It is an added benefit towards the health and welfare of their child. Many parents have even purchased a pulse oximeter for their child for home use as well. The product’s popularity has sky rocketed over the past few years. More and more people today now what a pulse oximeter is, and what it does.
