The MOTIF XS series of Midi keyboard synthesizers is among an extended line of music workstations from Yamaha Corporation. It was announced during the 2007 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. It has 355 MB of high quality waveforms (around 2,670 when converted into 16-bit linear format) and samples. It's new acoustic piano, electric piano and orchestral samples along with richly textured and distinctly electronic synthesizer waves. It also carries a 130,000 note MIDI sequencer. It increases from the MOTIF ES MIDI keyboard synthesizer series with features including four more faders, up to 8 elements or tones per voice, expanded articulation, up to 4 simultaneous arpeggios in performance mode, Ethernet connectivity plus a much larger color display. MOTIF XS6 • The MOTIFF XS6 certainly is the smallest of the three with 61 synth action keys and coming in at 32.6 pounds. • It has pitch blend, modulation, 8 assignable control sliders, 8 assignable knobs, ribbon controller, 2 assignable function buttons together with a data dial. • It has 5.7-inch graphic color LCD that’s backlit and is sold with contrast controls. • Its voices includes a tone generation multi timbral capacity of 16 parts internal with 128 maximum polyphony at the same time number of voices including Preset: 1,024 Normal Voices + 64 Drum Kits, GM: 128 Normal Voices + 1 Drum Kit, User: 128 x 3 (selected and copied from Preset bank) Normal Voice + 32 Drum Kits • In terms of effects it has 9 types of reverb, 22 types of chorus, 53 x 8 types of insertions, 9 types of master effects, 5 bands of master EQ, and 3 bands of part EQ. • It contains a data capacity of 130,000 notes with note resolution set at 480 parts per quarter note and up to 1,024 waveforms. MOTIF XS7 • The MOTIF XS7 is the middle child of the MOTIFF XS MIDI keyboard synthesizers and consists of 76 synth action keys and a weighs of 37.5 pounds • Other than the difference in proportions, keyboard number and weight it includes the very same functions and conditions as the MOTIF XS6 in the case of control interfaces, Voices, Effects, Songs and Sampling. MOTIF XS8 • If you agree that “bigger is better” then potentially the MOTIF XS8 is the best unit for you. It’s over 4 and half feet wide and weighs a massive 63 pounds. • It may be the same in principle as its smaller siblings in terms of Control Interfaces, Voices, Effects, Songs and Sampling but unlike them its keys are fully weighted meaning if you’re familiar with playing the piano you might feel perfect accustomed to this baby.
