Roulette is a casino game (word roulette from French means a little wheel) that is very popular all over the world. There are two types of this game: American Roulette and European Roulette. There are a few theories about the origin of this thrilling game: one of them is that in the 17th century Blaise Pascal introduced a primitive form of the roulette, and then in the 18th century it became very popular in France. Later, in 1843 two Frenchmen brought in the single "0" type roulette wheel to vie with other casinos that suggested a standard wheel with single "0" and double zero "00" house pockets. And nowadays the only difference between American Roulette and European Roulette is that American Roulette game besides 36 pockets and “"0" pocket has also "00" pocket. And a stories are told that one of the roulette inventors stroke a bargain with the devil to know the secrets of roulette. Actually this legend rests on the mere information that the total amount of all roulette wheel numbers (from 1 to 36) makes 666, which is believed to be the "Number of the Beast". The American Roulette betting table consists of 36 squares marked with red or black and the other two squares that are marked green, these are zero and double zero. American roulette rules consist of two different types of betting: inside betting and outside betting. If to speak about American roulette strategy so there is no definite one. You can create a great variety of different strategies, but nevertheless there is no exact strategy with a help of which you can win without any doubt. With different betting systems a gambler can just change the dispersion but not the mathematical expectation of the results of the game. The most popular strategies are: D'Alembert System, Labouchere System, Martingale betting strategy. The most important thing in roulette as well as in any game of chance is to know the payout of the bet and to understand the American roulette odds. So in American roulette there are 38 pockets in which the ball may lend. When you bet on one number, you have a 1/38 chance of winning, so it is 5.26 %. You can also bet on the red or black color, on even or odd pockets, from 1 to 18, from 19 to 36, from 1 to 12, from 13 to 24, from 25 to 36, on two number, three number, four number or six number combo. But if you want to play roulette just for pleasure you can play online American roulette. Nowadays, actually, it is very popular to play gambling in the Internet. The most important difference when compared to the European roulette wheel, is that the American wheel has both a single zero and a double zero, whereas the European roulette wheel has only a single zero. Another difference is that the numbers on the American roulette wheel are placed in pairs opposite of each other - whereas the numbers on the European wheel are placed in a random order. In my opinion, the American Roulette is more practical; as the red/black and odd/even bets are placed right next to each other, and the first18/last18 betting spots are placed right next to the single numbers. On the other hand, the European single zero roulette table is more beautiful in symmetry.
