In life things do not always work the way we want them to. Our hopes and dreams get smashed on the executive’s or loan officer’s desk. We were once excited about our ideas but now we are saddened from the prospect that no one believes in us or our product. Our great idea has been shredded and we are now left to deal with the feelings of rejection, anxiety and embarrassment. Dealing with the feelings of rejection and ignoring of our product or idea is one of the worse experiences we can go through. However, much of the feeling comes from our belief that since our idea or product that somehow we have been rejected as well. This is not true. Businesses focus on what they believe will make them money. Therefore, they are willing to reject ideas that don’t appear to have an immediate impact on their needs. For example, many companies might be able to make millions of dollars years from now but can’t realize the money right away. Therefore they reject your idea and not you personally. So don’t take it so hard! You might also be surprised to find out that many people have had great ideas only have them thrown out by the “authorities” and “business minded people”. These ideas went on to spark interesting changes and successes in life. For example, no one thought airplanes would someday be possible and when the idea was brought forward everyone laughed. Think of an inventor who has tried to develop something amazing. He may have tried 10 times or a few thousand times. Eventually he may have developed something really important but the public isn’t interested in what he has to offer. The public means that the large companies are rejecting his idea as useless. Instead of walking away with his head down the inventor finds a new use for his product and starts marketing it out of his garage. The consumer’s response to the product is overwhelming and people line up around the block. If that inventor would have listed to the authorities in his field he would have stayed poor and demoralized. There are always different paths to success. When things aren’t going your way consider new approaches and talking to new people. Most successful people were rejected at one point or another from major companies and corporations. It may only be a matter of perspective but you haven’t failed until you have quit.
