Health and safety should be a priority among employers as well as employees. For sure, some people will consider the advices coming from employment law experts and health and safety advisors essential for the smoothest flow of business. However, it should not be disregarded that there is no better way to prevent problems concerning health and safety other than to make sure that you will make yourself capable of avoiding it. Awareness have proved to be the best way to prevent problems in many occasions and for sure, it will also work well for the employees who want to avoid the most common workplace threats. There are common workplace injuries and knowing what these things are can prevent you from being in that situation. 1. Overexertion (ex. injuries acquired through pulling and lifting) 2. Fall without elevation (ex. fall on wet floors) 3. Lower level fall (ex. fall from stairways, windows, or roof) 4. Bodily Reaction(ex. injuries sustained through tripping or slipping) 5. Hit by objects (ex. books from shelves or objects dropped by another person) 6. Hit against an object (ex. running into concrete walls, glass, cabinets, or chairs) 7. Vehicular accidents (ex. business related trips that encountered accidents) 8. Equipment related accidents (ex. hand caught in machine) 9. Repetitive motion (ex. strained muscle and tendon resulting to pain/ carpal tunnel syndrome) 10. Violence (ex. attacks or arguments that led to physical injuries) Workplace related injuries can be disabling and it can be the reason for one’s life to undergo a tremendous and unwanted change. Although, employers are expected to take charge of their workers’ health and safety, it will still be important to make sure that as a smart individual, you will be assertive enough to empower yourself and know the most common causes of workplace injuries then look for ways to make sure that it will be avoided as much as you can.
