When was the first time you experienced stomach reflux? Or…can you even answer that question? Have heartburn and acid reflux been a problem for so long that you really can’t recall when you experienced your first unpleasant episode? There was a time, however, when reflux was not a part of your life. No sitting up to sleep or frantically rooting through the medicine cabinet trying to find something to put out the fire. Possibly, you have reached the place in your life where you think that you have reached the point of no return. You have decided that severe heartburn and its ugly symptoms are here to stay. Well, I have good news. And, no, I’m not here to sell you anything. In fact, I just want to share some good news. You can get rid of severe heartburn forever. And, best of all, you can do it without medicine and expensive doctor visits. Now, before I continue, I want to make it clear that I am in no way against doctors. In fact, if you haven’t seen a doctor about your severe heartburn problem then it is time that you did. Just make certain that you are confident, based on a sound medical diagnosis, of what you are dealing with. There are some very serious conditions that can go along with severe heartburn symptoms that absolutely require treatment by a physician. If you have been popping antacids and purple pills for a while now there is a way to get off that stuff forever. But you are going to have to commit to some major changes in the way you eat and your lifestyle. Actually, the primary cause of severe heartburn is based on some bad habits that you have developed over the years. Eventually, those faulty eating and lifestyle habits damaged your body leading to the physical symptoms and discomfort that you feel today. It was the bad habits that got you into this mess and it will be good habits that get you out. A high percentage of those individuals who suffer from severe heartburn and stomach reflux are overweight. Many of those have taken on excess weight to the point of obesity. So, the first thing that you can do to get your heartburn problem under control is to…lose weight. In fact, for many folks, just getting the excess pounds off is enough to cure the problem. It is also important to lose weight sensibly. No crazy or radical diets. Make sure that you select a healthy diet that is high on raw produce. That’s right…you need fresh fruit…but more than that…you must have fresh raw vegetables…and lots of them. Raw vegetables provide your body with powerful enzymes that help you digest the food you eat. It stands to reason that when there is better digestion there is less heartburn. In addition to a healthy diet that dictates what you eat…you will also need to focus on what NOT to eat. No spicy or greasy food. No carbonated beverages. No alcoholic or caffeinated drinks. And…no chocolate. These foods are notorious for triggering severe heartburn. Finally…you need to get some good quality consistent exercise. A brisk walk around the block once per day will also aid digestion. You see, getting well is essentially a process of undoing the harm that you have done to your body. It won’t happen overnight but you can free yourself of all pharmaceuticals and stomach reflux if you are willing to make the changes.
