Stick Closely with the Plan: Sometimes you will come across a new marketing program and feel as though it would work great. However, lots of money is wasted when business owners don’t thoroughly think through these programs. You won’t know it doesn’t work until it is too late. Compare any new choices to see if it fits within your plan. If it doesn’t fit within your plan then give it lots of extra scrutiny. Save Money: Having a haphazard approach to doing marketing doesn’t work well. Each dollar spend on marketing should return more than a dollar in profit. That means utilizing lots of different marketing programs that are not related to plan is likely to produce lots of waste. The difficulty becomes more confounded if you have multiple people making decisions on marketing. As most business owners know; waste is a bad thing. Monitor Results: You don’t have a marketing plan unless you have the ability to monitor the actual results. Monitoring allows you to see the effectiveness of your marketing program and to determine if there are better places to invest your money that will give you a higher return on investment.
