There are a variety of different factors that determines the value and the quality of the carpet. Some of these factors will include the characteristics of the fiber, weight, processing method, knitting pattern density and the weight. Higher quality carpet has tighter knitting, which makes it more durable than other carpets. There are a few basic steps that a homeowner can follow to distinguish good quality carpet from other lower brands. These steps can be followed to find carpet for any room in the home or area in the home. One of the first steps is to read the carpet’s product details. Most carpet manufacturers include a product description that provides the details of how much stress a specific type of carpet can take or withstand. The details will also provide additional information about what environment the carpet was made to be used in. Therefore, the owner can check to make sure the carpet will serve or meet their required needs. The owner can also check the carpet with their hands by bending it in different places or pressing their fingers into multiple areas places. If the carpet does not return to its original shape quickly, that means the carpet is not dense and has little elasticity. This is not the type of carpet that the individual will need to purchase. Therefore, when checking the quality, the carpet should return to its original shape quickly. Selecting carpet with the right density will prove to a good investment in the long run. When selecting new or replacement carpet, the homeowner will have to consider where the carpet will have to be placed. If the individual is planning to install the carpet in the main entrance of the home or the living room, they should choose a carpet with a higher density, which make the carpet more resistant to wear and tear. These areas should also have a carpet that is dirt resistant. The main entry, living room and any room in the home that has high activity are often areas that will pick up more dirt. Therefore, it is important to select a carpet that has already been specially treated for dirt. Plain or light color carpets should not be used in high traffic areas. When selecting a carpet that has to be durable, carpet that is made of nylon may be a good choice because this carpet is normally very durable, stain resistant and easy to clean.
