Choosing a wedding dress can be the most exciting and most difficult part about planning a wedding. It is exciting because you get to bring in girlfriends and mothers and have a great time playing dress up. There are so many styles to choose from and many of them are extravagant. The difficult part is actually choosing just one. There is a budget to think about as well as things like how the dress will look in pictures and will it be easy to sit and dance in. While there are definitely plenty of things to think about while choosing a wedding dress, the experience is sure to be one of the most thrilling parts of planning a wedding. One of the first things to decide when planning any wedding is the budget. Deciding on the amount of money you would like to spend on the dress will make the bridal gown appointment go much more smoothly. Picking a dress shop is another choice that is important. Depending on budget, a shop within the price range should be chosen. It is also key to make sure the shop carries either misses or plus size gowns, whichever is needed. Once logistics like budget and gown shop are chosen, the next important step is to decide what type of dress is best suited for the shape of the body. Also, choose details that you may like or not like including lace, beading, and a train. There are many styles of gowns to choose from such as ball gowns, mermaid styles, trumpet styles, A-line dresses and short gowns. Narrowing down what you like before the appointment will make finding the perfect dress much easier. Some styles cling to the body such as the mermaid style, which are more modern and sexy. Some styles are more classic and flow away from the body such as the ball gown style. Depending on the style and décor of your wedding, you may want to choose a gown that will match your surroundings. There are also special issues associated with choosing a gown. Some women choose to have their husbands pick out a wedding dress with them, but most go by the old tradition of not seeing the dress before the wedding. It is up to each bride which she will choose. Sometimes if a mother or father is paying for the wedding dress, it is important to pick a dress that they will approve of. Ultimately it is the bride’s day and she should wear a gown she loves. Finally, alterations and fittings must be done to the dress after it is chosen. These often cost extra and must be budgeted. After choosing the perfect gown for your wedding, the marriage can truly begin beautifully.
