Bathroom sinks and vanities can be a focal point and establish the style and design of your bathroom. Bathroom sinks and vanities come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and styles and can add dimension to your bathroom while also creating functionality. There are various types of bathroom sinks that are colored or are delicately designed that can cause a substantial price increase, but the beauty and added features may be well worth the cost. Bathroom sinks and vanities come in a variety of materials to fit any kind of budget. They can be made of vitreous chins, ceramic, stainless steel, porcelain, different types of metals, culture stone or faux stone, solid surface materials, enameled cast iron or steel, fiberglass and acrylic sinks. The bathroom sinks and vanities made of porcelain or vitreous china finish are heavy duty, and very durable. They are resistant to water damage and mildew and are very easy to clean. However, they can chip if a heavy object is dropped on them. Stainless steel sinks are super easy to clean and are a great option for sink vanities. Many consumers choose fiberglass and acrylic sinks, or culture stone or marble sinks because they can all be molded into very beautiful shapes, colors and patterns, but they are more susceptible to scratches and chipping than other bathroom sink vanity types. There are also some great ways for sinks to be mounted to countertops. They include self-rimming or surface-mounted sinks which is when the sink bowl gets dropped into a hole, but the hole is slightly smaller than the outside rim of the sink, forming a seal with the countertop surface. There are also rimmed sinks where the sink is dropped into a hole in the countertop, and the rim joins the sink and the countertop, forming a seal with a metal strip. The next type of mounting is the under mounted sinks, these are when the rim is attached to the bottom of the countertop creating a very clean look to bathroom sinks and vanities. Another type is the integral sinks, where a one piece sink and countertop unit is made from the same material. These types of bathroom sinks and vanities are usually made of stone, faux stone or solid surface-type material. There are different types of bathroom sinks and vanities available. A bathroom sink vanity with cabinets can provide countertop space, a place for the sink and faucets, as well as a great storage space below for toiletries and towels. These are called vanity mounted sinks. There are also pedestal sinks, wall hung sinks and freestanding sinks. Vanity mounted sinks seem to be the most popular because of the storage space that is provided. However, pedestal sinks are perfect when you have very little floor space available. With so many options for bathroom sinks and vanities available you should have no problem finding the perfect sink and vanity for your new home or to remodel an existing bathroom. You will be able to find a number of great options at your local home improvement store and will be able to get the job done in a jiffy.
