It has only been a little over a year that I have had true and lasting success with losing lower belly fat- which was always the main area where I held onto my extra pounds. If you would like to lose your muffin top, this will help you too. One of the keys I found, in addition to not letting myself get too hungry, is to have healthy low calorie snacks on hand at all times. You must know that I am not a strict dieter. This just does not work for me. I have to be able to eat when I’m hungry, and I also have to be able to cheat- within limits of course. Not all the time, lol. I give myself a cheat day once a week- and it is usually on a weekend. Now I don’t go and ruin all the progress I made during the week, but if I want a bowl of popcorn with butter and salt and a diet coke, I treat myself- to one large bowl- not unlimited amounts. If I have been craving a hot fudge sundae all week, I will have it on my cheat day. And, I will keep it to 3 scoops of ice cream, not the 5 scoop monster sundaes I used to gorge on. The best way to make the most of my cheat day is to think about what I would like to reward myself with during the week. One the weekend comes, I know exactly what I will have. The clincher is that I do not allow myself to just eat like crazy and not stop. I plan in advance what i will have for my weekly cheat treat. and let me tell you, when I finally get that hot fudge sundae after thinking about it all week, I thoroughly enjoy it! So one week it might be the sundae, one week it might be baklava, another it might be Cheese Doodles. And once a month I do crave popcorn with butter and salt and a big Diet Coke. During the rest of the week I rely on my low cal snacks to keep me feeling satisfied. When I first started using the Diet Solution, I wasn’t sure I could do it. The main reason? I grew up hating vegetables, and a lot of fruits too. All those years of my mom urging me to eat my vegetables really turned me off to them. But I learned that there really are some healthy raw vegetables and fruits that I like. It took some experimenting and it might be the same for you, but give it a try. It’s really worth it. So even though I am Queen Fussypants, I have learned that I like and can snack on Empire apples (gotta be Empires for me), cauliflower, mushrooms (who knew?) and even carrots (but not plain- they *have* to go with no cal dressing). I also know there are some fruits and vegetables I will never like, not in a million years. Celery is one of them. Cucumbers are another. Watermelon is another. If any of these were the holy grail of losing abdominal weight, I would still be rocking my muffin top. There is just no way I will ever eat any of these foods. Period. I found out how to tweak my eating habits to let myself have the freedom of rewards once a week. I also learned what I could – and could not- eat when it came to the raw fruits and veggies. Do a little experimenting and see what you like and what works for you. Then work it with all you’ve got and you will start to melt belly fat for good!
