Long Term Care Quote for a Fifty-Year-Old

Insurance
I was told that I’m not too old to buy a long term care insurance policy. Initially I thought that I’m more likely to be disapproved by an insurance company as I happen to be just 10 years away from retirement.

Upon the advice of my insurance agent, I went to see my doctor for a thorough physical examination and what do you know, I’m as healthy as an 18-year-old. I owe it to yoga and morning walks in the neighborhood park. Now I can’t wait to get my hand on that long term care quote.

Aside from the factors of age and health, I am also aware that insurance companies determine your annual premium through your choice of maximum benefit amount and maximum coverage period. I already informed my agent that I’m going to settle for three years in a nursing home. Many people my age detest nursing homes because of recent reports about the ugly condition of the beds and other medical equipment in most nursing homes. Lucky for me as I have done my homework already so I can speak for the quality of nursing homes in my area.

I would have opted for a continuous care retirement community or an assisted living facility for I don’t really see the whole point of having a skilled nurse monitor me every hour. Besides, an assisted living facility is by far cheaper what $3,200 a month? It is the desire, however, to experience living in front of the beach which made me decide to choose a nursing home instead of other available LTC facilities that were presented to me.

Looks like my choice of LTC setting would even allow me to save more on annual premiums, as my insurance agent told me that I can get a more affordable long term care quote for a facility only policy.

Two hundred and twenty dollars a day for a nursing home surrounded by green and fronting the beach is not bad at all. As a matter of fact, I find this more reasonable than having to pay a home health aide $152 daily and be stuck alone in a noisy neighborhood.

There are more folks, probably the same age as I am or older, that prefer to grow old and receive care at home. I don’t happen to be one of them. I never had the means to build my own beach house so I’m left with only one choice and that is to grow old in one.

I’m not saying all these things because I’m single and childless. Had I chose the life which married women and mothers did, I would still see my retirement years spent in a nursing home situated by the beach and not in any of the homes of my kids.

Settling for My Long Term Care Quote

Upon receipt of the quote for my facility only LTCI policy, my insurance agent made it clear that this is good for three years and it’s not inclusive of home care.

I couldn’t conceal my delight upon hearing this. Guess, knowing what you want for yourself, your future and how to get it makes everything in life seem so easy.

It did not take tons of articles about LTC insurance policies for me to arrive at my decision. It just took a single dream.
