One thing I absolutely hate is waking up early; I can’t bring myself to it. But, ever since I downloaded the Sleep Cycle alarm clock app on my Apple iPhone 3GS, all my troubles have gone away like sheep over a cloud. What makes this app stand out from all the other clock apps is its customization. With Sleep Cycle you are able to customize the alarm sound, snooze, wake-up phase, and vibration. In doing this, you can finally have your perfect sleep. Sleep Cycle is also known for being the alarm clock that analyzes your sleep patterns, in turn, waking you only during your lightest sleep phase. Sleep cycle does this by monitoring your movements through out the night, using the accelerometer in your iPhone or iPod Touch. The app then generates the optimal time to wake you, during a 30 minute window, which you set ahead of time. Before you go to bed, activate the app and place your gadget under your sheet(s), according to the instructions. The app will measure your movements, through out the night, using the devices built-in accelerometer. It will then calculate the best time to wake you, according to your movements. My favorite feature is the 'Intelligent Snooze,' which is activated by shaking your iPhone. I typically give my bed a whack, with my sleepy arm, or I head butt my pillow, both of which work quite well. Lastly, the Sleep Cycle app takes all of the data that it has gathered from your sleep and puts it into a nice little graph, which you can use to study your sleep patterns. It also shows the time you went to bed, the time you woke up, your total sleep time, and the average time that you've slept per night. With an affordable price of 99 cents, Sleep Cycle is a must have app. I have used it for the past 118 nights and I will continue to study my sleep in the future.
