Fine woodworking is not just another project; it is a passion for what you do! Like any other profession you can tell who has the passion for the work they do by how the finished product looks. Fine woodworking goes way beyond just building something from wood, it is the intense can't quit until everything is cut, sanded, lined up, nailed, stained and sealed perfectly. Fine woodworking is the wood shop where you find woodcrafters that cares more about quality than quantity! Most times it is the small mom and pop shop that few people know about. The large wood shop that is always advertized will probably be all about getting done fast and cutting corners so they can produce more. I do not intend to say a big shop can't produce fine woodworking, but most times they are all about time lines so they can move on to the next job. A big wood shop would rather cover up a mistake instead of taking it apart and doing it again. For me fine woodworking is the jewelry box or dresser grandparents have passed down thru the generations and still looks and works as good today as it did a hundred years ago when it was new. I enjoy looking at a piece of furniture where woodcrafters have put there all into it, the ones you can tell by the way it feels it was built to last not just to make money. I do not mean to bash the woodcrafters in the big factories because they to serve a great purpose in our lives. Without them producing fair quality items that can be sold cheaply most homes would be using milk crates for furniture. They do decent work for the time and money restraints they have to work with. I am just stating that if you want a piece to pass down to your grand children then you need to look at some of the small woodcrafters; this is where you will find fine woodworking that will last. If you are wanting something custom built be patient, because great woodcrafters require more time than one who is willing to use the short cuts and produce a piece of lesser quality! It all comes down to what you want, and are you willing to pay the extra time and money for a work of art or settle for something less? Fine woodworking is an art it is not something just anyone achieves, it is usually the person that there entire life is devoted to woodcrafters they think of working with wood all the time it is the driving passion within them not just a job but an honor to them to build something for you. Have you ever seen this type of person? The one that is consumed with the work they do, you get the feeling they would still do their job even if they were not paid to do so. When a person has that kind of passion they will always produce a quality product because they can't quit until it is perfect. More Information
