To effectively serve the public and discharge its functions properly, the government must train its officers on the latest government developments. The US federal and the various state governments constantly train their officers on the latest and most modern government technology, policies and strategies on various governance matters like security, health, diplomacy, etc. The method of training or learning is directly related to how the trainees understand what is being taught. Interactive training has so far been rated as the best in ensuring that the trainees understand. As the learners voice their views and ask the retainers questions, they grasp and understand what is being taught better. The Interactive Whiteboard ensures that those being trained interact with the trainers or teachers. It combines the theoretical and practical aspects of teaching as required. It projects the displays of the computer or PC desktop in to the whiteboard. What is required is only a computer, projector and the whiteboard. These devices feature USB port hubs into which they can be readily connected to each other. All the US state governments can afford these in sufficient quantities to ensure thorough training for their officers on various issues. Since they are likely to be bought in bulk, they may be sold at a lower price than buying a single unit. The normal lecture process puts those being taught in the passive receiving end. They are therefore not likely to understand because it lacks participation. For training on an issue like computer or internet systems which require practical sessions with computers, the Interactive whiteboard is the best method of doing so. The training can take place in a computer lab because the Interactive whiteboard teaching is designed to take place in a large room or hall. It can be mounted on a wall or on a stand where anyone can see clearly what is being displayed. In this case, each trainee will have their own computer. The trainees can therefore practically practice and perfect what has been learnt in the computer lab as they learn new other things. The Interactive whiteboard also provides the best forum and opportunity for the trainees to learn from each other. Instead of investing in such expensive and sophisticated government technology in training, the Interactive whiteboard is affordable and effective. The federal and state governments should use it in all their training. They should also encourage its use in schools and other learning facilities.
