Have you ever been driving down a highway and then once you hit a certain speed, your car started to shake as if it was about to loose control . The first time you felt this, I'm sure you went a little crazy, and also probably started doing research on the subject. (Thats why your reading this right) But I'm here to tell you that this is a common problem with tires that are unbalanced. This means that the distribution of mass in your tires has asymmetries which causes ride disturbances and the steering to wobble. As the speed of your car starts increasing, so do the vibrations and thats why you only feel these ride disturbances when you are in a highway going at fast speeds. The reason you experience this is because your tires are out of balance and you must have them rotated in a professional wheel balancer. This will end up being the problem and any decent repair shop out there will have this balancer in their shop. This machines will be able to fix your tires very quick and at minimal cost, usually it will only cost you about 15-20 bucks. If this problem is not taken care of then it could shorten the life of your bearings, shock absorbers, other suspension components, and of course your tires. An imbalance usually ends up being the problem when your car starts shaking after a certain speed. However, sometimes, other problems could also be the suspension or the steering of the car. So make sure when going to a repair shop. the mechanic checks these different things. The differences between these two imbalances is that a dynamic imbalance is a lateral movement resulting from unequal weight on both sides of the tire and wheel/rim assembly's circumferential centerline, and this type of imbalance can only be corrected by a dynamic "spin" balancer and a static imbalance is a vertical movement resulting from heavy or light spots in a tire, and this can be corrected using either a static "bubble" balancer or dynamic "spin" balancer. As I said before, most decent repair shops have professional wheel balancers which can do the job very quick and very cheap. Also, make sure that you don't get overcharged for problems that your car may not have, but with this information you should be able to go to a shop and let the mechanic know that you know what you are talking about that what they don't take advantage of you.
