Everyone that travels extensively to places in Europe forms opinions of the cities that become their favorites, and become places which have a special importance for them. The personality of a city goes a great deal deeper than tourist destinations. They go into the individuality of a city that makes it unique, and is not found just in those destinations that make it well-known but around the streets and venues where the locals inhabit. Listed here are a few of my favorite places to visit in Europe: London A terrific walking city, much of London may be seen by keeping in close proximity to the Thames. Home to four World Heritage Sites, London's appeal is its well preserved and important historical sites, including The Tower of London, whose history goes back almost 1000 years, to upriver to Big Ben, Westminster Abbey (over 1000 years in history), and Buckingham Palace in the City of Westminster. Because the city street designs haven't altered much in centuries, there is quite a haphazard way they're laid out. But that is a part of the charm in walking this city, and the large Underground Tube system is perhaps the best mass transit system in any city in Europe, if you can walk no further. The second great feature of London which makes it one of the great places in Europe to travel is its large theater district, among the largest of any city in the world. Paris This city clearly has countless charms, but to me the greatest asset which makes this one of the best places to visit in Europe is the architecture, thus making this the perfect walking city, even topping London. Remain close to the Seine, then at the Eiffel Tower walk in the direction of the Champs Elysees and the Arc de Triomphe, and you'll witness some of the best architecture anywhere. Vienna Among the great places to visit in Europe for music is Vienna. You can experience much of this illustrious city by walking, from the area around St. Stephan's Cathedral to the Hofborg, or old palace vicinity. There are numerous concert venues to be found, and also several impressive museums making Vienna a great place to travel for its culture. Amsterdam Much like Venice, Amsterdam's attraction is in its canals. The city is virtually a web of canals, and there is a vessel of any size or shape, and for just about any circumstance you may have. The city center area is a place of great Dutch appeal, but the waterways are actually what make this one of the remarkable places to travel in Europe. Also, as with all large European metropolitan areas the culture is ever present in the form of museums of the great Amsterdam artists, among them Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Barcelona This city with the small city sensation but the progressive outlook is really a hidden gem when searching for the top places to visit in Europe. Situated on the Mediterranean Sea in hilly terrain that gives it character, this second city in Spain offers the attitude that it can provide anything that the great metropolitan areas of Europe can provide, but still gives off the feel of a smaller metro area. For cuisine, you really ought to experience the Tapas Restaurants. This is obviously just a tiny example of the great places in Europe to visit, but every one of these destinations provides a rather distinctive trait that helps it become extraordinary from other destinations. If you are contemplating a visit to Europe before long, we hope you will try to take in one or more of these amazing places. But try to engage yourself within the city to experience what gives them their personality. Cruising is great anywhere in the world, but is better in certain places depending on the time of the year.
