Laptop computers are basically personal computers designed and intended for mobile use. Laptops incorporate almost all of the archetypal components of a desktop computer, a display, a keyboard, a pointing device (usually found in the form of a touch pad) and speakers are some typical examples of hardware which, in the case of laptops, are all incorporated into a single unit. A laptop, like a desktop computer, is powered by main / commercial grid electricity specifically via an AC adapter. The laptop, due to the presence of a rechargeable battery, can also be used away from an outlet provided the battery is sufficiently charged. A laptop battery in novel state on average stores enough power to run the laptop for three to five hours, depending on the application being run, computer usage, configuration and power management settings.
A "special" kind of laptop that rather lacks the general battery time of usual laptops is the desktop-replacement computer. These kinds of laptops are designed to provide nearly all of the characteristics of a desktop computer along with a parallel echelon of performance. Desktop replacements are typically larger and heavier than orthodox laptops. They enclose more powerful apparatus and usually have a 15" or larger display. As already mentioned, these kinds of laptops are bulkier than and not as portable as standard laptops. This is attributed to the fact that their working time on batteries is characteristically shorter. This however makes sense as these laptops are not designed to keep mobility the top priority; they are simply intended to be used as compact and transportable alternatives to a desktop computer.
There are numerous things one can't imagine doing on a desktop computer that can easily be done on a laptop computer. Because a laptop is smaller and lighter it is more convenient and well suited for certain mobile tasks. For example one of the most popular things to do with a laptop is to hook it up to a TV or HDTV Televisions for playing games or watching movies. What's strange however is that many laptop owners fail to recognize that they can easily connect their laptops up to a HDTV or TV; all one needs to do is pay for a few cables but caution must be exercised in order to avoid picking up wrong cable and thus wasting you money you need to know both your laptop and your TV or HD TV. Only when this prerequisite is being met should you go to the market to get the cable you need to get the job done.
