PowerPoint presentations are used in all manner of places such as the office, over the internet, in schools, at civic events etc. It is considered to be a crucial tool for those who commonly make speeches. Prior to creating a PowerPoint presentation, make proper arrangements and finalize the topic for the presentation. You can use mind-mapping to organize your thought flow process. Proper planning must be made about the layout of the PowerPoint presentation. It is very important to provide a perfect start, end and middle part for all PowerPoint presentations. Be sure to maintain a logical flow and avoid jumping from one topic to another suddenly. Take all the necessary steps to learn about the tools that are available for making a good presentation. If you are new to making PowerPoint presentations, then using the PowerPoint help feature will be a good place to start. Also, many sites and blogs specialize in information on creating presentations. When including slides in the presentation, it’s usually best to keep the number as low as possible. The broad suggestion for the number of slides ranges from six to twelve. Many difficult concepts are hard to keep to such a small number of bullet points, so use only slides that are appropriate; do not include even one slide that is unnecessary. It is a wise decision to use slides in a sparing manner to ensure people listen to the speaker and get the main important points. The slides should be able to provide highlights of the crucial points and must include only a few details that are supplementary. Be sure to make the PowerPoint presentation very clear and readable. Choose the right font that will be easy to read from the back of the room. Use contrasting shades, and be sure to limit the amount of text on each slide. Avoid typing over six lines for each slide - people cannot focus on so much information at the same time as listening to a speaker. Avoid using running text; rather implement numbers or bullets to highlight key points. Use PowerPoint graphics and charts to convey the most important points whenever needed. Using animation and special features will also be helpful in conveying the information in a clear and interesting way. All these features must be utilized only when required and be highly conscious in not to overuse them. Using clear and simple designs will help in creating the most highly effective PowerPoint presentations.
