These squeaky clean tips are straight from the housekeeping experts: 3 Ways to Remove Mildew from Shower Grout Using Kitchen Ingredients Grout is made of a mixture of cement and sand. Overtime the water barrier 0dissolves with constant exposure to moisture, and mold and mildew form as a result. - You can remove mildew from tile grout by pouring ½ cup of baking soda in a bucket and mixing it with a gallon of water. Splash the baking soda solution on the affected areas and scrub thoroughly. Let the solution sit for an hour to loosen the mildew. Then rinse, reapply if necessary and repeat. For stubborn mildew, let the solution soak overnight.
- Soak paper towels in white vinegar and place directly on stubborn mildew spots. Let the vinegar sit for 15 minutes and then scrub. Rinse and repeat.
