The Middle East is experiencing a change of its political environment. The people have been protesting in multiple countries with the goal of getting their concerns heard and changing the governing bodies. Many countries in the region are still run by a monarchy system, which provides all out rule including the control of that nation’s wealth in all forms. The unemployment rates in the Middle East are at staggering levels, especially for individuals from the ages of 20 to 35. The protests started with the intention of no violence, but as the number of protesters grew and the governments of the nations saw their rule in jeopardy they acted with force. These actions have left hundreds dead, and thousands injured. Unfortunately, these numbers cannot be confirmed due to the fact that media outlets are controlled in the Middle East. Even social media outlets have been blocked, since they are considered to be a source for communication amongst the protesters. The challenges in the Middle East do not stop at just communication with the world, but in almost all forms important to a society. Food has become difficult to purchase, but not because it is not available, but because it is dangerous to be out in the markets. Many accounts have been given where individuals are attacked in food markets or bazaars as known in the region. Some governments have also been kidnapping individuals as well. Just like going to the market is dangerous, so is going to the hospital or medical centers. Hospitals are running extremely low on vital supplies, and the use of bulky devices has made it difficult to make medical care portable for individuals. For this reason, the need for portable medical tools and devices has become critical. Many charitable organizations from various countries have been donating these types of products. One such product has been the pulse oximeter. A pulse oximeter, also known as a pulse ox by some medical professionals, is a medical device used to measure the blood oxygen saturation level and pulse rate of a patient. A new fingertip pulse oximeter allows both doctors and nurses to be able to carry the unit around to where ever the patient might be. The pulse oximeter runs on standard batteries, which makes them even more versatile. Products like a finger pulse oximeter make it possible for medical professionals to attend to patients even in the most dangerous of environments.
