It has been a topic for discussion among runners since treadmills were invented but more recently some scientific studies have been done that have proven that you can indeed burn more calories while running outside compared to running inside on a treadmill. However, you can burn just as many calories on a treadmill as you can outdoors, it will just require you to run on the treadmill for a longer period of time or at a higher intensity (or both if you really like pain).

When you run indoors on an electric treadmill, the belt assists your legs by pulling them back compared to when you run outside where you must push off against the ground with your legs without any help. To go along with the greater resistance of running outdoors, there is also the resistance from the wind. Another aspect of running outdoors that makes it more intense is that when you run on a treadmill you are in an air conditioned home or gym while when you run outdoors it is usually much warmer.

Studies have shown that treadmills can reduce injuries by 50% compared to running outdoors and the weather is not always accommodating so a treadmill will allow you to continue your running program. Just remember that if you do run indoors that you will need to run at a faster pace or a longer distance to get the same intense workout that you are used to outdoors.

Foods That Can Suppress Your Appetite! Apples They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away but it’s also true for your appetite. Apples are full of fiber which is brilliant for keeping you feeling fuller for longer. Also an apple has a crunchy texture which means you take longer to chew and eat them, thus giving your body extra time to recognize it is being fed and that you are no longer hungry, therefore eliminating overeating. Try eating an apple as part of a healthy breakfast.

Flaxseeds As said formerly fiber is an exceptional appetite suppressant because when eaten as part of a healthy diet can keep blood sugars regulated. Flaxseeds are best identified as a great source of omega 3 but also an ounce of flaxseeds provides 8 grams of fiber. Also flaxseeds have been proved to help lower cholesterol in the blood and have defensive properties against cancer. Sprinkle seeds on salads, stir-fry or even mixed in with homemade smoothies.

Pine nuts contain pinolenic acid which is a naturally occurring polyunsaturated fat which stimulates two influential appetite suppressant hormones. These hormones send strong signals to the brain that you are full. Add pine nuts to pasta dishes or eat as a snack on their own.

Salad If you are hoping to eat less then try a petite salad before your main meal. The fiber in the salad slows the release of sugar in the blood, making you feel less hungry and therefore you will eat less of the higher calorie meal. Green leafy vegetables are also great sources of iron and folic acid.

A study taken found that when 42 women ate a simple 100 calorie salad prior to a main meal ate 12% less calories throughout the meal without even thinking about dieting or limiting their food intake. Vary your salads with spinach, tomatoes and shredded cabbage. Avoid any salad dressings.

Soups Soups are one of the best appetite suppressants that many of us over look. Resent researched found that both men and women that consume two low-calorie soups a day rather then snacking on other foods lost 50% more weight then participants that didn’t. The winning amalgamation is the high water content in soup that fills you up and the low amount of calories it contains means you can eat a lot of it. Stick to broths and vegetable based soups not thick creamy ones.

Either a bowl at breakfast can keep you full until lunch or a bowl when you are feeling hungry is great to keep you feeling full without sacrificing too many calories. If you are going to set in motion a plan to eat more regularly in a bid to lose weight then make sure the food accessible to you is at all times a healthy option otherwise snacking on crisps will keep you at the same weight or even larger. If you don’t have junk food in your home, you won’t be tempted to eat it.
