Of the many places in the world that need no introduction, Switzerland is among the first names that comes to mind whenever anybody is asked about their favourite holiday destination, save the few who have already been there a couple of times! However, there is much more to the city than the tourist boats in the lake, or the glitzy promenades, or the record breaking high fountain. If one wants to experience the true Geneva, the way around the picture perfect Old Town is to walk west by the side of the Rhône's industrial shores, explore the Pâquis quarter, or go south towards Carouge, with the rejuvenated factories, friendly neighbourhood bars and alternative clubs greet with all their attitude! Zurich: When the reputation of a city precedes it in every sense of the word, it needs to live up to it, but for many people, Zurich is much of an anti-climax to the way it is perceived around the world. To a majority of the visitors, it's a mundane banking capital that is like the Singapore of Europe, with everything just too spic and span for a careless tourist's taste. However, Switzerland's largest metropolis has come of age to break that mould. True, it is still home to the world's fourth-biggest stock exchange, and 'finances the country', so to speak, but the city is the ideal vacation destination for many, located on the shores of a beautiful river, alike its cousin mentioned above, and is very sorted compared to other global metropolitans.
