For those of you who believe that success is easy you have been misinformed. Unless born with money the chances of you becoming an instance success is little to none. Many men have walked down the path of success only to be thrown off by life’s little tragedies. A downturn in the market here and a divorce there can make your dreams flutter away like butterflies in the wind. Success is possible but will not be achieved in a day. Think of the successful greats like Thomas Edison, Bill Clinton or Jack Welch. None of theme was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. The truly great people had to work toward their goals for many years. Through hard labor and many sleepless nights they work tiredly in their profession to keep moving up the social scale. The difference between them and the born wealth is that they are the under dog. Being the under dog gives them lots of motivation. What makes these men different from all the other poor or middleclass men that want to succeed in life? The difference can be summed up into one concept – they never stopped. When we are young we are thrilled with our youth orientated motivation that tells us that we will conquer the world. When we get older, been layed-off a few times, experienced a divorce and run out of energy the “reality” sets in. To many people this reality tells us that we should be content with what we have. People like Thomas Edison failed a thousand times or more before they successfully invented something. Each time they failed they learned something new and moved on to the next stage. The average man might give up and be satisfied with what he is today. The voices of “reason” and the advice of others discourage these people from reaching down in their stomach and pulling up their strength. Each time these men set their eyes on a goal they are aware that success is a process. They know they can’t be the CEO of a company or invent some new product without going through the process. This process may require them to work many years and learn many things or it might require them to experiment everyday for the next 5 years. It doesn’t happen instantaneously. Let us say you want to write a best seller. That will require the creation of a plot, the outlining of the story and the year or two it takes you to write the story. Let us also say that you will have to write 30 stories to get one on the best seller list. The more you learn about English, the desires of consumers and the publishing industry the faster you will get to the top. Thus planning your day to achieve the most each minute is essential. Taking baby steps helps you focus on what is important each and every day. It allows you to accomplish your goals one step at a time and breaks the process down into manageable steps. As you accomplish each of these steps you will feel more motivated and accomplished. If you believe your end goal will be accomplished within a short timeframe you may be disgruntled when after a few years you have achieved what you planned.
