Reportedly, as soon as the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco ended on Friday, rumors of the next Nintendo started doing the rounds, with speculations of it being released in June at E3 2011. Nintendo boss, Satoru Iwata said, "We are always preparing for the next hardware. We are under development." What is more exciting is that the new console may feature a Blu-ray optical drive, a quad-core processor, and a mobile projector, as the company had said that it was working on developing something new, using these features. Analysts predicted that if indeed the new console carries these features, then it would emerge as the world leader in gaming consoles. More about the launch The planned E3 2011 launch, however, depends on the sold units of their previous device. Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime said, “After we've reached an installed base of 45 million here in the U.S., we can have a conversation about the next generation." As the company had sold more than 30 million units by December 2010, the target seems to be achievable, and so the release may be scheduled as planned. While developers said that Nintendo would be bringing 3D to the next platform, the company had said that it would only reveal something new, if it was distinctively better than what its rivals were offering. "It is really important for our business to positively surprise people. Will you be surprised by our completed product if we told you how it is surprising three years in advance? Therefore, we basically disclose information on our products as late as possible” said the chairman of Nintendo. 3DS project lead Hideki Konno said that the company has been mulling 3D for over 20 years and it won’t give up. Well, gamers will have to wait till June to see the latest offering by the Japanese firm. For more information check out online video site
