Another landmark you may wish to visit in the town is the Ponte Romana - or Roman bridge - that spans the Gilao River with its seven arches. Thought to date back to Roman times, it is believed that the present structure was actually reconstructed in the 17th century and serious flooding in the late 1980s means that only pedestrians can use the crossing.
