The Oscars are a great big deal with actors and actresses in the United States, and even all over the world. There are plenty of categories that take into account foreign films as contenders. The Oscars are an event that the industry prepares for throughout the year, and then goes all out when it comes to the night. The Oscars are also big business. Many different designers also prepare for the main night months ahead. What a lot of people do not know is that the Oscars are also a great place for businesses to market their products and services. Some years ago, it was discovered that the eyes of Americans were on the actors and actresses and if certain products were also put into that spotlight certain trends would be brought to their attention. Actors and actresses get a bag full of products. These products range from watches to colognes and perfumes. Manufacturers of these products provide at no charge to actors and actresses. Recent changes in the needs and wants of society have also changed the type of products that are being given to actors and actresses. More and more people today are concerned with their health. In the past, gift bags had blood pressure monitors, glucose monitors, and even pedometers. A new medical device hit the market about a year ago, and its popularity has been on the rise. This new device is a pulse oximeter. A pulse oximeter, also known as a pulse ox by some medical professionals, is a medical device used to measure blood oxygen saturation and pulse rate of an individual. You may be asking yourself why this is important. The answer to this question is easy. The number of cases of cardiac and respiratory in the United States is on the rise at a rate that some professionals consider being at or near catastrophic levels. With a pulse oximeter an individual can easily keep track of their vital signs. If one knows how much oxygen their blood is actually receiving, it can give them clues to various things about their health. For example how efficient their lungs are. More than a few actors and actresses received their pulse oximeter, and more than a few of them actually showed curiosity about them. After learning of what they do and how the information received from a pulse oximeter, they have said that they are likely to actually use their pulse ox.
