I always seem to suffer from 'Post Valentine's Day blues' and recycling soon after Valentine's day is always a little thing I do that always makes me feel better. Afterall, knowing that you're consciously helping the environment is always a good thing. Any pretty flowers or bouquets that you bought or may have been bought for you, can easily be disposed of by taking them to be recycled along with cards you may have received (if you don't want to keep hold of them anyway!) I'm a card person, but if you get sick of keeping them, I'm certain there will be a place nearby for you to recycle cards and even some stores offer a recycling service. You can also recycle any paper wraps from chocolates and get rid of all the empty bottles from drinks that you and your partner will most probably have consumed in that special 24 hours. As recycling and just generally being 'environmentally' friendly seems to be popular nowadays (with good reason), it's never too late to start considering your surroundings. Almost everything that you can do in life almost always has a greener option so you don't have to change your daily habits but instead consider other possibilities and the positives that come with it. Instead of getting the bus in the morning or getting the tube you could always ride a bike instead. Not only is this incredibly good for the environment but it's also extremely good for your health. I know this idea of reducing carbon emissions has been rammed down our throats by today's society, however what most people tend to not know about is that you can also catch a green flight to anywhere in the world. So no matter the distance there IS a friendly option for the environment, I could also go on about electric cars as an alternative, however you're probably very aware of the options available to purchase. Even in the home it is possible to be 'green', there are many furniture designers that have started to use green materials and house clearance companies that recycle whatever is collected and a variety of other companies that ensure that the packaging of their products is environmental friendly. All I am suggesting is that even though you can start small like after Valentine's Day by recycling, you could infact change your whole outlook on life. It's not hard to do so. Next time you finish a bottle of wine, instead of throwing it in the bin, think about the consequences of the bottle going into landfill sites rather than it not being reused. Afterall, the effects are not only detrimental to the environment but also have big consequences on our future selves.
