Diabetes is a disease that does not differentiate between anyone. Both kids and adults have diabetes, and it is found in places of the world. Those who are familiar with diabetes know its vast dangers. Diabetes is known as a silent killer. Most people do not know that a good number of people who have diabetes tend to die from heart related issues. Things like strokes and heart attacks are high up on the list. Why is that you might ask. The reason for this is simple. A person with diabetes does not experience the same symptoms of a heart attack. They do not get chest pains, because in their case the nerve endings for the chest pains are mostly likely damaged or dead. Doctors always ask diabetes patients about any abnormalities in their breathing. That is one way to tell if a stroke could be maybe forecasted. Diabetes patients constantly monitor their glucose levels with a glucose monitor, but nowadays more and more tools are also available to help patients follow their health in more detail. One new device that is used by diabetes patients to help monitor their vital signs is a pulse oximeter. A pulse oximeter, also known as a pulse ox by some medical professionals, is a medical device used to measure blood oxygen saturation and pulse rate of individuals. A new finger pulse oximeter is designed to be able to be worn on one’s fingertip, and provides practically instant readings. These new devices are portable, and can be put into one’s pocket. What a pulse oximeter allows a diabetes patient is the ability to be able to know their oxygen and pulse rate levels. This information can help determine certain characteristics of a stroke, which are not always apparent for a diabetes patient.
