There's no more relaxing way to spend a holiday than a stay in a luxury villa in Tuscany - but before you book your flights to Florence, there are a number of things you will want to consider. Location can make or break a holiday and it is essential that you choose a holiday cottage that is located near the attractions you are keen to see during your time in Italy. While many Tuscan villages are incredibly scenic and picturesque, not all of them - particularly the smaller ones - are situated in areas with regular transport links. If you are hoping to stay somewhere that is not on the railway line or local bus route, your best bet will likely be to hire a car. Driving has several advantages - you don't have to plan your break around a public transportation timetable and you can take in the beautiful countryside at your own pace. However, you'll need to ensure that you appoint a designated driver or seek out alternate transport arrangements if you plan to sample the local wine at one of the region's famous vineyards. The Chianti region is well-known for its fine wines, which have been produced in the area for centuries. Here, Chianti Classico is the beverage of choice and you may be able to tour one of the local estates for a firsthand look at how it is made. When you've had your fill of Tuscany's postcard-perfect countryside, you'll also want to get in touch with the region's Renaissance roots in Florence and Siena. These cities both played essential roles in this important cultural period and you will be able to see plenty of evidence of their rich artistic and architectural heritage during your visit. Florence is a perfect place to explore on foot as many of its main attractions - including the Uffizi Gallery and the Palazzo Vecchio - are centrally located. Siena, meanwhile, is home to the Piazza del Campo and the famous Duomo - both well worth a visit during your stay. Whether you plan to stay in a small town or a big city, enjoy the quiet country life or learn more about the region's rich history, you're sure to have a brilliant time in the Tuscan sunshine. Start planning your break today. If you are looking for the perfect place for an Italian holiday, why not rent a luxury villa in Tuscany?
