Visit BeWILDerwood in Norfolk for family fun

Travel & Tourism
The Norfolk Broads is one of the UK's most popular holiday spots and offers a wealth of activities for families with young children - and a great way to explore the region is by enjoying canal boat holidays in the area.

Those holidaying with children will be spoilt for choice over how to keep them amused, but a day or two spent at BeWILDerwood should be top of the list on any UK canal boat holidays itinerary.

BeWILDerwood is a magical and mystical forest in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, and is the perfect place for a day out on canal boat holidays in the region. The beautiful forest boasts hidden treehouses, exciting jungle bridges and exhilarating zip wires that allow both parents and children to get a completely different view of the woodland floor below.

The entire forest adventure park is grounded in sound eco-friendly policies and hosts many days ideal for nature-loving children and parents. During the Boggle Bugs and Butterflies event, children can improve their knowledge of forest animals and plants, and can also enjoy digging around for bugs and chasing round after butterflies.

During the day, children will also be taught about the benefits of green living and recycling and can try their hand at coming up with their own recycling ideas to help sustain the planet for future generations.

Two of the most important days of the year for families, Mother's Day and Father's Day, are marked in style at BeWILDerwood. Children attending the park on these days will be able to make their very own card for their parent - and brave mums and dads are also invited along to enjoy the very best in outdoor activities in Norfolk.

Parents feeling daring can join their children on zip wire adventures on both days, and will no doubt get as much enjoyment out of running round the forest as the youngsters.

BeWILDerwood can easily be reached on canal boat holidays in the UK and there are many Norfolk Broads sailing routes which are in close proximity to the park.

Ahead of a visit to the park, why not relax on the deck of your canal boat and learn all about the mystical creatures that can be found in the woods?

Local novelist Tom Blofield's book A Boggle at BeWILDerwood is essential reading before a day in the forest and can be a fun way to inspire children ahead of their woodland adventure.

The novel includes fantastic characters such as Boggles and Crocklebogs, and can help children identify all of the mystical things they see while wandering around the woods.

As well as zip wire fun high in the trees, BeWILDerwood visitors can enjoy areas of the forest including the Mudlde Maze, the Broken Bridge, the Slippery Slope and the spooky Sccaaaaaary Lake. The lake is said to be the home of a strange and mischievous water creature who loves to scare passing boat-trippers by splashing them with water.

Canal boat holiday fans who love being on the water can also experience a sail down the BeWILDerwood Dismal Dyke in a pretty pink boat.

After a busy day of tearing round the forest, children - and worn out parents - will no doubt need a rest and a bite to eat. There are three food outlets dotted around the forest, with picnic areas also available for those on canal boat holidays who wish to take their own food.

All the food on offer is sourced from local farmers and other suppliers, in keeping with the eco focus of BeWILDerwood. Children and parents who follow a vegetarian diet may find they enjoy a much wider choice of food then they are used to, as the forest prides itself on the range of non-meat meals on offer.

The beautiful forest at BeWILDerwood is just one of the stunning parts of countryside that elevates the Norfolk Broads among the UK's most popular spots for canal boat holidays. This summer, why not spend a week or two checking out all that Norfolk has to offer on a sailing break where you are free to hop ashore and explore anywhere that catches your eye?

If you're looking for Norfolk Broads canal boat holidays that take you to BeWILDerwood, take a look at Le Boat's wide range of UK canal boat holidays. We provide many different canal boat holidays in the UK, including family-friendly canal boat holidays.
