The golf slice is among the most aggravating problems to correct for many golfers, but if the reasons why the golf ball slices are clearly comprehended, solution is not at all difficult. Before we provide you with the key to remedy that slice, take a couple of deep breaths and SLOW DOWN your golf swing. Everything will fall into place if you think three-quarter speed The most important key now that we will deal with to fix the golf slice is correct swing path. Due to the fact your golf swing is circular, that is, the club head begins behind our head, swings around the body and finally ends up behind our head, it might appear physically impossible to not impart spin on a ball. But at the point of contact don't think circular. Allow me to explain. While looking down on the ball, think of the ball moving in flight. For the right handed golfer, if your ball is rotating in a clockwise direction the golf ball will slice, or move in the direction towards which the ball is spinning. Obviously, for the left handed golfer the exact opposite holds. The goal to fix the golf slice will be to eliminate this spin. How can we make this happen? If, by looking down at the golf ball, we were to imagine it as a clock with twelve o’clock becoming the direction we would like the ball to go, if we were to make initial contact on the ball at seven o’clock striking through the ball to the one o’clock position, we'd impart minimal spin on the ball, and thus giving the ball a straight flight, or maybe a slight counter clockwise, or hook spin. Now needless to say this would not be hard if not for the fact that we are swinging, to some extent, around our body in somewhat of a circular action. So right before impact and just after, we should think of the club taking a nearly inside out route. This isn't as tricky as it seems. To correct the golf slice, practice doing a couple of things to achieve this: 1. Close the foot position slightly. To put it differently, make sure the front foot is somewhat closer to the golf ball compared to back foot. 2. Position the ball further back in your stance. Many of us have the inclination to move the ball forward, frequently even past our front foot, which makes it extremely difficult to reach that “one o’clock” position on the ball. Consistently staying with those two swing keys is going to do wonders for the fix the golf slice. Obviously some practice to fine-tune those techniques for your swing will be necessary.
