Top 5 destinations to visit during trips across America

Travel & Tourism
If you're planning trips across America, it's likely you'll be trying to decide where you want to go and what you want to see. And with so much choice on USA holidays, it's easy to wonder where to begin. However, to discover five of the top destinations to visit during this kind of break, read on.

The US is famous for being home to diverse attractions, from spectacular natural phenomena to some of the most vibrant cities in the world. To achieve a good balance during your break, why not make sure you see both?

Perhaps one of the most popular - and famous - natural wonders in the US is the Grand Canyon. This amazing sight really is a must-see on any America holidays. Stretching along for some 277 miles, it is 18 miles wide and one mile deep.

To experience this awe-inspiring landmark at its most picturesque, visit at sunrise or sunset. Alternatively, why not get a different view? You can either embark on one of the many hikes available along the rim or board a helicopter for a spectacular aerial view.

Another impressive natural wonder to visit is Niagara Falls. Situated between New York and Canada, the falls are a consistent draw for tourists and it's easy to see why. A spectacular sight, the attraction is perhaps at its most awe-inspiring when seen up close, so why not take a trip on the Maid of the Mist?

This boat will take you right up to the edge of the falls hitting the river - you'll even be able to feel the spray touch your skin, while the roar of water will be immense.

Once you've finished admiring the falls, you might like to make your way to another iconic destination - New York. The Big Apple is famous for countless things and its skyline is familiar to almost everyone through various films and TV programmes.

While you're there, why not take a trip up to the top of the Empire State Building for an incredible view over the city, or visit the Statue of Liberty? The green delights of Central Park - an oasis of parkland in the centre of the metropolis - also must not be missed.

This is one of the biggest urban parks in the country and is the ideal location for a quiet afternoon stroll, as well as being home to several attractions of its own, including a zoo and skating rinks, among others.

And if you're a keen shopper, you'll find yourself in heaven when you hit the stores of New York. In fact, you'll see that there are so many shops to explore that it could easily take up all your time there - so make sure you don't miss out on the other attractions!

Situated in California, San Francisco is another city to make sure you stop off at. Famous for landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, you'll find there's much to be discovered in this exciting location.

Taking a cruise around the bay while the sun sets is a perfect way to spend an evening, followed by a few drinks in the Marine district. Meanwhile, simply ambling around the streets soaking up the views of Victorian and modern architecture sitting side-by-side is a must.

Other attractions include Al Capone's headquarters, as well as his former prison - the notorious island facility of Alcatraz.

The final destination on our top five list is Yosemite National Park, which is also situated in California. Here you will find incredible scenery at every turn, perfect for exploring on foot or by bike.

Among the key things to see are Yosemite Falls - one of America's tallest waterfalls - and El Capitan, a huge granite monolith towering vertically some 3,000 ft. In fact, with such an amazing landscape, the park is the perfect place for budding photographers to get some impressive shots.

For exciting, memorable American adventures, taking tours across multiple destinations is the ideal choice. Seeing as much as possible in one fantastic journey, you will find you are able to soak up a range of different cultures, landscapes and natural wonders during your break.

And with so much to see and do, it's sure to be the trip of a lifetime.
