If you travel to the location between November and the end of March, be sure to stop off at the salt lake, which fills with water during this period and is visited by flocks of flamingos. Close by, you can also go underground to take in an attraction. A rocky cavern below the surface houses the chapel of Ayia Phaneromeni, which is rumoured to have healing properties. Another attraction in the area is the Greek Orthodox Monastery of Stavrovouni, which is thought to have been founded by the mother of the Byzantine Emperor Constantine I the Great - St Helena. Within Larnaca is the village of Skarinou, which is perfect for a daytrip. Perched on a hillside, the village has a couple of markets, a number of tavernas and plenty of well-preserved traditional houses. Meanwhile, if you'd like to explore the surrounding areas, Lanarca is well-placed for you to do so. Its location means you're not far from Nicosia, Limassol, Protaras and Ayia Napa if you feel like spreading your wings during your Cyprus holiday.
