The structure once famously had a 159-metre spire that despite its fame became the building's downfall on a number of occasions after it was struck by lightning. The structure has been rebuilt several times and now has a 124-metre steeple. There are all kinds of other great attractions in Tallinn, such as the Cathedral of St Mary the Virgin, Toompea Castle, the town hall square and the remains of the city walls, which date back to the 14th century.
