For those who want to journey down memory lane: Apples first appearance on the mobile market in 2007. Leaders of the smartphone market, Nokia and RIM were then, respectively. Fast forward to 2010, third quarter: Nokia continues to be first, because of its popularity in Asia and Europe, from 26.5 million units shipped in the third quarter of 2010. However, Apple achieved second place with 15.4 million units, and RIM is in third place with 12.3 million units. In just three years, Apple has managed to exceed the RIM in the world of smartphones.

Without a doubt, Apple is ready to remain a market leader in smartphones. They will have to be a bit harder to pass the Nokia(which Apple boasts more than 10 million units), and do not lose the lead to the growth of Googles Android.
