One of the most popular gadgets being used today by one and all is the mobile phone. Therefore, as business owners if you are looking to promote your business to the masses, the best way to do so would be through mobile marketing. Over the past few years, SMS marketing has become an extremely popular way to get your business promotions to more people simultaneously. One of the easiest ways is through the use of SMS Short Codes, which has helped businesses succeed in their marketing endeavor.

While Short Codes help you gain mobile numbers, it is not as simple as it sounds, given that there are several etiquettes that are required to be maintained. Firstly, it is important to avoid spamming while indulging in mobile marketing. SMS marketing, if done perfectly, requires businesses to allow the mobile user to opt in for your marketing service, before sending details of your company, its product or service. In other words, build a relationship with the mobile user before you start sending your mobile marketing adverts. In addition, make sure that your messages sent through the SMS medium add value to the reader or consumer. Most business owners end up using SMS marketing as a tool to pitch their sales forward, without considering the effect of such sales pitches on the consumer. While mobile marketing is definitely a great medium for your sales pitch, it should be done in such a way that the consumer becomes a loyal client with your business.

If you truly want to succeed in any industry through SMS marketing, then make sure that you use it as a two way communication approach. Communication is the key to success in marketing and this includes mobile marketing as well. Through the use of SMS Short Codes, mobile marketers have created a successful way of ensuring that the end consumers participate in a conversation with the business or company, which needs to be perfected. In such situations interested parties or consumers, respond to your SMS with the requisite keywords or short codes, making it easy for you to interact with them in detail. Alternatively, slogan campaigns and other such competitions, which can be completed through SMS, are great ways to enhance communication between the consumers and the company. In other words, interaction with your clientele through dynamic and action oriented marketing through SMS is a great way to reach out to more people.

Most people make the mistake of using SMS marketing or mobile marketing in seclusion of all other marketing techniques, which is not the correct way to use these techniques. It is believed that if you want to market your company successfully, then these techniques must be used in collaboration with other techniques like email marketing, internet marketing and of course traditional marketing. Integrating other marketing techniques would actually help you set up a successful mobile marketing campaign. For example, you could always provide opt in procedures on your website or internet marketing campaigns for consumers to provide their mobile numbers and opt for your SMS marketing service. Once consumers opt in for your service, then you can use different software to help you send bulk messages to your clients. Finally, while indulging in mobile marketing, make sure that you do not overload the several mobile carriers with your bulk messages. It is important to register with an aggregator, which is nothing but a company that is registered with all mobile service providers and can send messages on your behalf or a Mobile Application Service Provider (MASP). It is however, important to ensure that your short codes are registered with the mobile service provider or aggregator or the MASP. SMS marketing when done in the right manner will yield good results as well as profits to the business but if not done correctly, could result in shutting down your short code and facing the anger of your opt in subscribers.
