The unit will work in Verizons CDMA network, but has one major feature that AT T does not: support for Verizon Personal Hotspot. Verizons Personal Hotspot service allows users to share their 3G connection to 5 other Wi-Fi devices in the state. This would mean, you can use your iPhone 4 to provide internet to your laptop, tablet, and other electronic devices.
