A cruise holiday is the perfect way to explore some of the world's most scenic areas, allowing you to see beautiful scenes while travelling in luxury. A Norway cruise is particularly suited to such holidays, giving you the chance to explore the country's famous fjords and mountain ranges. During cruises to the country, you will find there is much to see. Three of the most attractive fjords, however, are below. A trip to Lysefjord is an essential activity for visitors to Norway. Starting out with a cruise around the scenic Stavanger archipelago, you will then be able to see this beautiful fjord, which is home to some of the country's most beautiful sights. On its southern side you will find a striking overhanging cliff called the Helleren. In the past, the cliff sheltered local fisherman from bad weather. In the present, however, it acts as a picnic site able to seat some 180 people, while also offering fresh waffles. The northern side is home to the Preikestolen - or Pulpit Rock - which is one of the most popular and famous sights in Norway. Hanging 548 metres above sea level, you will be able to cruise directly beneath it - something which will really give you a feel for its astonishing height. And while you are travelling back to town, you will be able to enjoy scenic cityscapes. Another must-see is the so-called Queen of Fjords, Hardangerfjord. This one is particularly interesting because it is home to the Folgefonna Glacier, which is the largest in the country. On clear days, you will be able to spot it during a trip on the fjord. Journeying a little further inland, you will also have the chance to enjoy the Steinsdal Waterfall, which you can actually walk behind - certain to be an unforgettable experience. Lastly, the Hjorundfjord is another must. Some 22 miles long, it can be cruised down in a catamaran so you can see the surrounding sights. The Summorsalpene mountain range encircles the fjord, which is spectacular, and you will be towered over by peaks stretching up 1,700 metres. Meanwhile, the land directly around the fjord is heavily wooded, which is also a fine sight to enjoy.
