For a fun-packed city break that is also educational for both kids and adults, a stay in Edinburgh incorporating a trip to Our Dynamic Earth could be ideal. The exhibit offers a fascinating glimpse into the planet's history and how it has developed since the Big Bang, while also looking forward to how the Earth might change in the future. Its various films and 3D and 4D presentations are geared towards both young ones and grown-ups, offering a fun day out for all the family. Our Dynamic Earth considers issues such as climate change, population growth, concepts of time, geology and much more besides in an attempt to increase visitors' understanding of the state of our planet. The final part of the exhibition is We Are Astronomers, a film narrated by David Tennant and presented using 360-degree full dome film technology. Activities specifically for kids include the Science Explored exhibit, which allows children to learn more about volcanoes, earthquakes, extreme weather, evolution, tropical rainforests, outer space and oceans, among other things. The Dino's Dynamos club also provides workshops on geology, dinosaurs and related topics. Because Our Dynamic Earth is located on Holyrood Road - near several Edinburgh hotels - you will be able to easily go from the exhibit to one of the city's many other attractions during your break. The Scottish parliament building, Holyrood Park and the Palace of Holyrood House are all near Our Dynamic Earth and form part of the World Heritage area of Edinburgh. However, the kids are likely to be much more interested in one of the city's most popular sights - Edinburgh Zoo. Set in 83 acres of parkland, the zoo is home to over 1,000 different species of animals and birds, including many endangered and rare creatures. One of the most recent additions is its sun bears, while other highlights include the daily Penguin Parade and the Budongo Trail, which is populated with chimpanzees. Elsewhere in Edinburgh, the city's imposing castle, the Royal Yacht Britannia and the many shops and restaurants scattered across the Scottish capital are sure to make for a fun-filled break to this part of the UK.
