It's November, which means the countdown to Christmas has begun. If you're like me, you have gifts in mind for your family and friends, whether it's clothes, shoes, candles, gift cards or money in a card. I find that many people have the same problem: most people they're buying for either want nothing or are ridiculously hard to buy for. Have you ever asked someone if they need anything? Are answers like, “No, I'm good, but thank you” familiar? Me, too. I've discovered that gift cards are great for a number of reasons. Let's discuss 3 of them. First, gift cards are flexible. Most stores will allow you to put as little as $5 and as much as $1000 on them. As well, many stores offer them in pre-determined amounts. Most stores no longer have time limits on their gift cards nor do they impose user fees if the balance isn't spent within a certain amount of time, a year for example. In some cases, you can even buy a gift card that your recipient can then use to get a gift card from their favorite store or stores so you're essentially giving them the perfect gift. Who doesn't love giving the perfect gift? Second, gift cards are for everyone. Whether it's your husband, your grandmother, your co-worker or your boss, they fit everyone. You can ask anyone what their favorite place to shop is without raising suspicion. If you happen to know that your husband could live at Lowe's, for example, that's better still. Gift cards from Lowe's will make him happy and allow him to get exactly what he wants or needs. They allow people to get themselves “just what they needed”. Sometimes people like college students might have general needs so a Wal-Mart gift card or one for a department store is perfect. Third, gift cards are compact. No matter how you present them, they're little big gifts. You can put them in cards or small jewelry boxes, for example. You can spend $5 or $500. If you're shipping gifts, gift cards are light so they are cheaper to ship, too! Universal style gift cards are great too, as they can be used to buy other gift cards or, in some cases, anything you like. Gift cards may be dressed up or dressed down. They allow recipients a surprise whether in a box, card or gift bag. As we inch closer to the holidays, most of us find ourselves crunched for time and money. We want to get “bang for our buck”. We also want to please everybody we're buying for including our friends, family and co-workers. Gift cards are small but pack a big punch. While they were once considered 'cop out gifts', today many people prefer gift cards as they enable people to get what they want. Whether it's gluten-free bread or black matte tanned leather cowboy boots with a reverse stitch, recipients of gift cards can get all of these things and more without having to share their life's story or having to go into extraordinary detail. Gift cards are flexible, fun, practical, almost universally appreciated, easy to use and, if you're shipping or mailing them, much less costly. Gift cards are a fantastic choice for just about anyone.
