Nokia is still the market leader in mobile telecommunications industry. Company managers said that Nokia expects to sell over 500 million mobile phones this year. A figure that some analysts believe, above market expectations.
Even if the economic crisis is still responsible for numerous job losses in various industries, the mobile industry, however, remains optimistic. According to the Reuters consensus survey in November, Nokia has sold about 458 million units. However, the mobile unit Nokia chief Rick Simonson told Reuters that his company will sell over 500 million. Managers, however, has refused to make a new forecast.
The Nokia 2010 will hit more than 500 million units on three platforms, which will be a 40 percent global market share, he said.
Simonson did not comment on November poll conducted by Reuters, adding that Nokia forecast was made on 2 December. Nokia forecast includes 10 percent growth in the mobile phone market in 2010, while the companys market share is likely to remain the same as in 2009.
