Tess just got promoted. The successful young lady sitting in that corner made another niche in this corporate ladder. Who could have thought she will fly so high? None of those applauding for her had ever thought she will be their boss and that she will be awarded as one of the outstanding resident of the town she now resides. She used to be a lost teenager. She does smoke drugs, and alcohol. She never thought of her tomorrow. She is often seen walking down the street either dragging her leg or her whole body going nowhere. She was a total lost person, no place to go. She is seen sleeping with boys anywhere like she got no home. She used to be her daddy’s little girl. The only child her dad ever had. The princess so spoiled and so loved. She loves to cling on her daddy’s arms and thought of turning into a lady with her dad beside her. Never in her wildest imagination have she ever thought of losing her dad so early. Poor Tess, her dad left her early at the age of eleven and a week before her day. She cannot accept her dad’s early departure. She never thought of it and she despised everyone for it including her mother. She had shut her doors including windows and had curled into her own world. No talking can ever convince her. No person can ever penetrate her. She had started to make a wall separating her from the rest. She did not celebrate her 12th birthday. She stayed in her room and never went out. Not a gift was opened, not a card was read. The sweetness in her was totally gone and now she had become a total lost and a total waste. Then one time she knocked open a box. Scraps of tampered papers fell out of it. She looked at it closely. She felt something so different that pulled her to the papers. They were not scraps of tampered paper after all. They were cards. Cards from 12th birthday left unread. There were those in laces, in neon colors, pastels, flowery and with stuffs from her classmates, friends, and a few neighbors. A card draws her attention and it was the card in pink with wood margin. The handwriting in strong penmanship is very much familiar to her. It made her heart leap so high and thumped so strong. It was her daddy’s handwriting saying, “My little princess, you may always see me but always here. There is a lot more to life. Spread your wings and let me see you flap. Happy Birthday!” It touched her heart and her soul. Moved her mind to one goal and it is to fly high the way her dad used to tell her. Now she is up there on stage giving her speech and sharing us inspiration.
