One of the city's most popular tourist draws, the palace is just as stunning outside as it is inside. Similarly breathtaking is the Tower of London - a castle built between 1066 and 1067 that has had many uses over the years. The tower was once a prison, place of execution, Royal Mint, armoury and even a zoo. Now, it houses the wondrous Crown Jewels, so why not take a look? The Yeoman Warders will give you a tour of the fortress, leading you through a medieval king's bedchamber and out to the spot where three English queens were beheaded. And from one macabre location to another as you journey to another of London's most renowned attractions - the dungeon. The underground incarceration unit has been made over with a horror theme and recreates sights and moments in history such as the Great Fire of London, the plague, Sweeney Todd and Jack the Ripper. There are a number of rides to try out here if you fancy giving yourself a real fright. Next on your list of top attractions in the city should be the waxworks museum Madame Tussauds. Here you can marvel at how lifelike the figurines of A-list stars look as you have your picture taken alongside movie stars and prime ministers past and present. If you're after another grisly experience you might like to venture into the Chamber of Horrors here, too. A great way to finish your tour of the capital is with a ride on the London Eye. The giant ferris wheel affords sights of landmarks such as Big Ben and gives you a bird's eye view of the whole city in 30 minutes.
