If your students are due for a treat during a school trip to Spain, they're sure to really enjoy a day trip to PortAventura on the Costa Brava. Perhaps you're thinking of rewarding your pupils for their hard work or looking for the perfect culmination to a learning-heavy school tour - either way, it's likely you'll be fondly remembered by youngsters in years to come if you take them to the coastal theme park of PortAventura during a Spanish school trip. Situated within 30 minutes of two airports, the park - on the Golden Coast of Salou, Tarragona, in Catalonia - could be a great option before the flight home to ensure the perfect mix of fun and learning on your school tour to Spain. Or if you choose to visit half way through your break, the fun could be a great way of breaking up blocks of educational visits across the region. The attraction is split into five areas - Mediterrania, Far West, Mexico, China and Polynesia - with each recreated to resemble the authentic regions. Mediterrania gives the impression of being a typical coastal Catalonian town, while the Far West has a Wild West theme. Mexico has been recreated in the style of the Mayan era and China is filled with dragon sculptures. Meanwhile, Polynesia is mainly water-centred, with rides such as a submarine journey into the depths of the ocean set inside a cinema. If your students are game for a challenge, they'll find some of the rides on offer really take their breath away. The Furious Baco, for example, has the quickest rollercoaster acceleration in the world, while the Dragon Khan has a record-breaking number of loops. Pupils will find themselves dropped, spun and swerved in every direction, but for those who are faint of heart there are plenty of other attractions. The canoes have been developed as a gentler adventure suitable even for young visitors to the park, while there are also numerous shows to take in. You might like to join youngsters in marvelling at the acrobatic abilities of the China Town dancers or watch the many tricks that the birds of Paradise have been trained to do. There's also the chance to see a group of Wild West outlaws defeated by soldiers after taking a hostage or take in the sight of water bending in seemingly-impossible ways. A visit to the park really is a great way of making your school outing to the Costa Brava a memorable adventure.
