Marketing is a medium by which companies/services display their wares for the public to see. It would appear that marketing is more about public messages than simply sales; despite sales being the result of marketing. Having more consistency in sales and growth in a business requires the constant feeding of a public message (Martenson, 2007). For example The New Business World Blog needs many visitors in order to encourage companies to advertise. The Blog gets these visitors by offering free articles on business news, business theories, human resources, business statistics and much more. These articles are posted through a number of internet mediums in order to draw business minded readers. The more visitors the New business World Blog receives the more that can be charged to companies for advertisement; a direct relationship. These companies and businesses are willing to pay for space on the New Business World Blog because of the type of visitors it is drawing. To further the understanding of the reader demographics the Blog has included polls which reveal that the far majority of the readers are managers who earn over 75K per annum. Companies and businesses that desire to sell their products to this demographic will find The New Business World Blog a worthwhile targeted medium. Thus marketing is also about getting a company’s message out to the right people. Take for example Hyundai Motor Company, the Korean car manufacture, who wants to increase U.S. sales by 8% in 2007 (Hyudai Motor Raises, 2007). In order for this to happen they need to define their typical U.S. buyer and target this group in their advertisement campaigns. They may consider business blogs like The New Business World, magazines, newspapers, television, phone, linking, bill boards, pay-per-click, or any other type of method that caters to this specific demographic. The more targeted their marketing efforts the less they will have to spend in order to get their message out to the people willing to purchase their products. There are three principles one can utilize to understand marketing. 1.) Marketing is about letting the world see your message. 2.) Marketing is about letting the right people see your message. 3.) Marketing increases sales which in turn increases the stability of the organization. Murad Ali is a two time book author, a human resource manager, and a Ph.D. candidate.
